Information and Communications Engineering

Information and Communications Engineering is a rapidly expanding discipline which has already begun to change the face of the earth as we know it. New applications in areas such as telephone, internet, and short message services are springing up constantly. Soon, cars will be guided by fully automated traffic control systems, and the intelligent management of information concerning, e.g., room and outside temperature, water consumption, and the position of doors and windows, will result both in reductions in energy consumption and in improvements in the comfort of one's own home. Finally, with commercial and economic activities being increasingly based on information technology, it appears likely that e-commerce will soon enter the home as the standard way of accessing markets.
