The deadline for taking the orientation exam is extended by one semester for first-year students who started in WS 2018/19 and in WS 2019/20.

The deadline for graduation in the Bachelor's or Master's program (maximum duration of studies) will be extended by one semester in WS 20/21 for students who are currently in the highest permissible semester.

If the study and examination regulations stipulate a deadline for taking exam retakes, this will be extended by one or two semesters, depending on the course of study.

This is implemented centrally and no applications need to be submitted.

Standard period of study

A new "Studienbescheinigung mit Regelstudienzeit" is now available in the student portal. The certificate shows the standard period of study for your degree program and also serves as confirmation to third parties that the standard period of study has been extended by one semester for all students enrolled in the summer semester 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For further information on this topic, see the KIT FAQs under "General Study Operation and Basic Questions".

Theses in progress

The submission deadline for final theses that were started before 17 March was extended by 69 days.

For final theses that were started between 17 March and 24 May 2020, the deadline is extended proportionally.

In both cases, no application for an extension of the deadline is necessary.

Prior master's transfer account
Prior master's examinations, which are normally limited to 30 LP according to the SPO, will be increased to an unlimited extent for the winter semester 2020/21. Students still need to meet the minimum requirements for the prior master's transfer account as defined in the SPO of their Bachelor's program. If you are going to take a large number of prior master's examinations due to the corona situation, please make an appointment with a study advisor in good time. If you have any questions regarding the registration or booking process, please contact the program service bachelor.
