Deadlines

The decisions of the state government, of KIT, and the ETIT examination committees regarding deadline extensions can be summarized and simplified with the following "rule of thumb":*.

The summer semester 2020, the winter semester 2020/21, the summer semester 2021 and the winter semester 2021/22 are considered "corona semesters".
Students who were enrolled in one or more of these semesters in the same degree program will receive an extension of one semester per corona semester (but no more than a total of 3 semesters!) for the following deadlines: orientation exam, maximum duration of study and deadline for taking a repeat exam.

There is no need to submit a separate application for this. Details about the specific deadlines for your SPO can be found in the tables at the bottom of the website.

*This summary provides an overview of the regulations. For detailed and legally binding information, please contact the examination boards.

Standard period of study

A new "Studienbescheinigung mit Regelstudienzeit" is now available in the student portal. The certificate shows the standard period of study for your degree program and also serves as confirmation to third parties that the standard period of study has been extended by one semester for all students enrolled in the summer semester 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
